A continuation of Negative Space (2023)
8x10 archival pigment prints
As I explore the freedoms and frustrations that stem from the “otherness” engrained within my feminine identity, I’m able to visually express my internal conflict through interactions with the landscape.
Growth is not granted where in shade seeds are planted.
I unfurl in the shadow of perennial petals:
Blossoming after rain storms; wilting as pollinators pass by.
Slowly sprouting again as the seasons shift.
The wounds of my sterility are self-inflicted.
I am picking fulfillment over future fruit.
Now I am at odds with Mother Nature’s perfect plan.
But I am unearthing a new acceptance:
The roots of this pain dig deeper than my understanding.
